An interesting thing I learned the other day - "Prescription Synchronization". This refers to the action of making sure that you get all medication refills on the same day, at the same pharmacy visit. I guess that the assumption is that this process can improve adherence by preventing situations in which the patient "runs out" of drug "A" but waits until a refill for drugs "B" & "C" are due, becoming noncompliant on drug "A" in the meantime.
A possible approach is to "under dispense" "B" & "C" so that all the meds refill dates are in alignment. Would that work? And wouldn't a Chain Drugstore prefer more, as opposed to less, store visits?
This is but an example of the areas I will attempt to explore on this blog. Naturally, all comments are most welcome as we all strive to improve adherence.
